Formerly, Al Otaiba served as a non-resident ambassador to Mexico. ==Career== Before being appointed Ambassador to the United States, Al Otaiba served for seven years as the Director of International Affairs for the Court of the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi. During that time, he was a senior advisor to HH General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. In these roles, Al Otaiba has helped strengthen the UAE’s security and economic relations throughout the region.〔 〕 Al Otaiba was sworn in as the UAE Ambassador to the United States on June 22, 2008.〔 〕 In July 2010, remarks made by Al Otaiba, were interpreted as supporting a United States military strike on nuclear reactors in Iran.
